Students dressed up like the legendary Paul Bunyan, a class favorite! After completing their assessments, they enjoyed a directed drawing of Paul and Babe, made colorful Babe the Blue Ox headbands, and performed reader’s theater versions of the story.

🎉 Today was a big day of professional learning for our Clarke staff! 🎉
We started the morning with some fun with our Olympic Cup Stacking Challenge—congratulations to Team 2, the Highlighters, on taking the gold! 🏆✨
The rest of the day was spent learning critical skills and safety protocols:
*Staff heard from the “I Love U Guys” Foundation on the Standard Response Protocol, helping us feel even more prepared for emergency situations.
*Byron Jimmerson with Clarke County Emergency Management, along with partners, led Stop the Bleed training—giving staff hands-on lifesaving skills.
We were honored to be joined by so many community partners who shared their expertise and support, including DPS, Iowa Department of Public Safety, Clarke County Conservation Board, Clarke County Iowa Emergency Management Agency , Madison County Emergency Management, CCSO Dispatch, Clarke County Hospital, Osceola Fire Department , Osceola, Iowa Police Department , and Woodburn VFD.
👏 A huge thank you to all of today’s presenters, agencies, and especially our Clarke staff for their active participation and commitment to keeping our students and community safe!

Today our students practiced bus evacuation drills to make sure they’re ready for anything, anytime they ride the bus—whether it’s to and from school, to activities, or on a field trip.

All Clarke 6-8 grade students are welcome to join us outside the middle school entrance on Friday, September 12th from 4:30-6:00. Student council will be serving free pop, chips, and cookies. After the tailgate, students can walk down to the football field to cheer on our varsity football team as they face I-35. Hope to see all of you there!
