This week, two students traveled to Creston to compete in the first Hack-A-Thon at SWCC and did an outstanding job representing Clarke! They showcased their programming skills while demonstrating creativity, determination, and a passion for computer science.

Earlier this week 8 Clarke students joined 1,200 other students at the largest Spring Leadership Conference in Iowa FBLA history. Over three days our students competed in different areas including Personal Finance, Business Law, Hospitality Management, Impromptu Speaking and Economics. Students also attended workshops about choosing the right college and how to nail a job interview.
The highlight of the trip was Kadence Henry placing 7th in the State for her Career Portfolio Presentation.

Leadership Class Community Service Project!
Seven Clarke students worked together to organize a community service project where they visited the local animal shelter. While they were there, the students exercised and socialized with the dogs and cats. I am not sure who enjoyed it more, the animals or the students. Students were even still talking about the experience the next day in class. Through planning and participating in this project, students learned the importance of teamwork, communication, and shared responsibility. They discovered that working together not only makes tasks more manageable but also more meaningful, as they were able to make a positive impact on their community while building stronger connections with one another.

Throughout the day, students explored a variety of departments, met healthcare professionals, and gained firsthand insight into the many careers that keep a hospital running. From patient care to behind-the-scenes operations, they were able to see the teamwork, compassion, and skill that make a difference every single day.
We are so grateful to Clarke County Hospital for opening their doors and investing in our students’ futures. Experiences like this help our learners connect classroom knowledge to real-world careers ... and maybe even spark a future in healthcare!
